I wanted to record something last weekend, with the condition that it be a full song and not just vocals. (I bought a keyboard months ago, and I still haven’t used it, dammit.) My choices quickly dwindled to Magnetic Fields’ “Reno Dakota,” because 1. it’s short, 2. it’s just singular vocals and a banjo and 3. it’s short. Unfortunately I still don’t have a MIDI cable, so I had to sequence the backing music in a neat program called Caustic. It’s a full song nonetheless, and now I have a better idea of what it takes to do something more complicated. If I’m allowed to plug a song cover anywhere, it should be my own music comic, right?
